Welcome to the Rigali Family

Home page !

This page is dedicated to the various Rigali families in the United States, Canada, and Italy that have an interest in genealogy. I believe that with a united effort perhaps we can find our common ancestors. If you have information to add to a family line or a family line that is not listed, please submit it and we will add your information. All the Rigali families I have communicated with originate in either (Comune di) Barga or Fornaci di Baraga, which are about three miles (see maps) apart. I could use photos of Rigali family members born prior to 1900 or pictures of Fornaci di Barga or Comune di Barga, thank you.

Good news we made the newspaper in Barga, Italy!

The monthly newspaper in Barga, Italy has printed an article on the Rigali Family home page, it is in the February 1998 issue, page seven. Here is what they printed, English translation follows the Italian:

su altri cognomi fornacini: Mazzoni, Bosi, Togneri, Luchini, Del Checcolo,

Pieraccini, De Finis, Pellegrini, Dante e Funai; tutti cognomi in qualche modo

trovare digitando l'indirizzo http://memberstripod.com/rigali/

An Internet Site Dedicated to the Rigalis of Fornaci

From the United States, Mr. Donald Rigali of Houston, Texas, sends us a

letter by E-mail. He informs us and he asks us to give information on Il

Giornale di Barga, he has created an Internet site entirely dedicated to the

redevelopment of the family tree of the Rigali family from Fornaci.

In the site there is currently sheltered anagrafe information in respect to

six Rigali families, all coming from the area of Fornaci and vicinity.

Currently Mr. Rigali is working to insert two other "branches" to his family

tree.

Rigali, in his notable work, has been able to reconstruct the histories of

these families. He tells us for example of Michael Rigali who arrived in

America in 1858, fought in the American Civil War. Michael Rigali relocated

afterward to Quebec in Canada, where today his descendants still live. Among

the more celebrated Rigalis that reside in the U.S.A., he mentions to us

Monsignor Justin Rigali, archbishop of St. Louis in Missouri, whose family

really originates from Fornaci.

The site shows also some photos of Fornaci, the Pieve of Loppia, a small

map in order to arrive in Fornaci and some old photos relative to members of

the Rigali family.

Donald Rigali, furthermore, lets us know that in his site one can also

find information on other Fornacini families: Mazzoni, Bosi, Togneri,

Luchini, Del Checcolo, Pieraccini, De Finis, Pellegrini, Dante and Funai; all

family names in some way tied to the Rigali family. Additionally, he invites

all those who are in possession of useful information to his work to contact

him through the E-mail drigali@bigfoot.com The dedicated site to the Rigali

family you can, on the contrary, find by fingering the address

http://memberstripod.com/rigali/

In order to contact Mr. Rigali the mail address is the following: Donald

I plan on having another article printed in this paper soon, by the way I have had my first Italian cousin contact me from the article. Here is hoping we will get some new information on our families soon.

To subscribe to Il Giornale di Barga (Newspaper of Barga) the cost is 50,000 lire, and they want Lire not dollars. The cost from Ruesch International for a check for 50,000 lire. They gave me the exchange rate and that they charge $3. for the service and told me the amount to send to them. Their check is drawn on the Bank of Italy and is in lire. The recipients name is on the check. I paid $33.64 for the check, which included their $3. fee. The amount entitles you to 12 issues plus a Christmas issue in color. Well worth the price. This information was supplied by Hilda Rohmann.
